Gouves is a large area that belongs to the municipality Peninsula. Located 18 km east of Heraklion, 17,9chlm the cosmopolitan town of Malia and 48,4chlm from Agios Nikolaos. They consist of the homonymous tourist resort, at the coastal part, and the traditional village of Pano Gouves, in the mountainous part of the village.

Beaches
In Gouves municipality we find many natural coves in the series and beautiful beaches. 3.6 km east we find the beach of Ascension, while 5.5 km west is the village of Kokkini Hani with one of the busiest beaches in the region.
