Beaches

One of the most beautiful and sandy beach of Hersonissos, is located west of the city. It starts from the caves of Sarantaris and reaches the city port and is packed with small bays with crystal clear waters. These small beaches are characterized by very calm and clear waters and fine sand. In some of these may encounter some pebbles. From these small beaches, known are: the caves of Sarantaris, Cape Sarantaris the beach Giofuri and the central city beach. There are also quiet beaches in Analipsis 9km west of the city and it's also Anisaras 8km west.

Sights

 The harbor, which existed from Roman era, now is used by local fishermen, and also serves the small cruise ships in the region that organize daily cruises.Walking the streets of Hersonissos we find fountains with waterfalls and mosaics, some of which survive to this day, and an outdoor theater, ruins of which still exist from the Roman era.Near the city is the Museum of traditional Cretan life "Lychnostatis" while to the east, the city 'Malia', we can visit the archaeological site of another Minoan palace.Along the city you will find more traditional taverns by the sea and nightclubs for entertainment lovers.
